Mitch Werner

Mitch Werner first came to Notre Dame from rural Kansas, earning degrees in filmmaking and business. He honed skills in marketing communications and management at corporations in Chicago and Los Angeles.

With a love for wild landscapes, he changed gears to become a park ranger for the National Park Service in Arizona. As a writer for the Bureau of Land Management in Idaho and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Denver, he helped develop government policy to preserve and restore an expanding national monument and several wildlife refuges.

Afterward, he wrote (as-yet-unpublished) novels of intimate reflection that advocate for sensitive environments and people. A move to a remote, traditional town in Sonora, Mexico, strengthened Werner’s cultural awareness. Now an avid traveler, most recently to Asia, he seeks new ways to be of service to the world. He and his husband live in Scottsdale, Arizona.
