Joseph Barnicki

Joseph Barnicki had a 41-year professional career which included extensive experience in leading simulation engineering teams and flight tests to support training systems development for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, NASA, and others. These systems encompassed proof-of-concepts, operational flight trainers, avionics integration, mission rehearsals, emergency procedures, and operator and maintenance training for the war fighter. While at NASA, he achieved flight status, supporting 27 research flights examining space shuttle tire wear and what might happen if the shuttle had to return with a flat tire.

For relaxation, Joseph enjoys sitting on the beach, sailing, attending concerts, and spending time with his grown children. He is an active member of his church as a parishioner, and serves as an usher and a Eucharistic minister to the sick. Especially interested in developing devices to aid amputees and quadriplegics, he is looking forward to the ILI experience and a service-centered retirement.
