Doris Ombara

Doris Chandi Ombara is from Kenya and brings vast training, experience, and exposure in the fields of Natural Resources Management, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture, Urban Development, and related social components. Her 40-year career propelled her to top project management covering governance issues, human rights, conflict management, policy development, and advisory in various institutions and forums. She is keen to further this role, especially that of policy development and good governance for the institutions in which she serves, and hopes to share her experiences as she learns from fellow participants in the Inspired Leadership Initiative.

Doris hopes that the shared knowledge, lessons learned, and experiences that she will gain from the University of Notre Dame will build her resilience and sharpen her skills and strategies for the betterment of the management of community initiatives, general governance, and human rights issues that she currently encounters in her day-to-day engagements as Chairperson, Director, and member of various Boards of Management in Kenya. She has a particular interest to fight for the rights of marginalized groups, including women and youth socio-economic empowerment. Doris is a born again Christian.
