Andrea Leyland

Andrea Leyland was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. After receiving her BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester, she returned to the State University of New York at Buffalo to earn her DDS. She was then commissioned as a Lieutenant in the US Navy and stationed at Naval Dental Center Norfolk, VA and Marine Corp Air Station Cherry Point, NC. Her dental journey took her to Philadelphia where she taught at the University of Pennsylvania and was inspired by her students to specialize in pediatric dentistry. Andrea was Chief Resident at Temple, Episcopal Division in the Advanced Education in Pediatric Dental Residency, and she continued teaching and treating the underserved population in Philadelphia.

Dr. Leyland’s biggest achievement was creating and leading the second pediatric dental residency in Minnesota at Hennepin Healthcare, a Safety Net and Level 1 Trauma Center. Working with learners is her true passion. As an educator she also realizes she is a forever learner.

Andrea enjoys scuba diving with her husband Chris, and two children Grace (20) and Lucas (18). She also enjoys watching Grace play bass in East Carolina University orchestra concerts and Lucas who swims for the Fighting Irish!
