Mary Clemency, MD

Mary Clemency received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and her medical degree from Northwestern University. She has practiced medicine for 40 years, first as an internist and then as an anesthesiologist—in private, academic, and managed care settings, in clinical as well as administrative roles. Dr. Clemency has participated in medical missions in Latin America, served as anesthesia lead for Operation Access in her community hospital. After serving as the clinical director and associate chief of anesthesia at a large inner-city hospital, she pursued theological studies at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley.

In addition to her medical work, she has served as a retreat facilitator and spiritual director, and as member of a Medical Reserve Corp Unit, the Advisory Council for the College of Science at Notre Dame, and the Boards of Trustees for the School of Applied Theology and the Jesuit School of Theology.
