Laura Barker

Laura Barker is passionate about inspiring the hearts and minds of young people. For more than 20 years she taught in private and public schools and earned two teaching credentials from Santa Clara University. She also helped found a successful school based on the Reggio Emilio approach. 
 
Prior to her career in teaching, she consulted in public relations. Laura began her career in Washington, D.C. working for the U.S. Government in both the Legislative and Executive Branches. Laura graduated from Rutgers University with a major in Economics and a minor in Art History. 
 
She is a graduate of the Diocese of San Jose Institute for Leaders in Ministry. Laura’s current focus is the care for all creation inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. In her spare time she can be found hiking, biking, paddle boarding, wakeboarding and skiing at Lake Tahoe. She is married to Ken Barker, a Notre Dame alum (’88), and the mom of two ND graduates: Cindy (ND ’22) and Hillary Frazer (ND MBA ’21).
